A Major Upgrade Over the Original
The Gatling 1.5 is a massive improvement over the original Gatling in almost every way that matters. The power difference is immediately noticeable, and even the first rotate/thrust mode demonstrates just how much stronger this version is. The suction is significantly more powerful, and the calibration works well, making the overall experience much better.
I previously owned the original Gatling, and its durability was disappointing. Whether I received a defective unit or the original simply had durability issues, the Gatling 1.5 feels considerably better built. The plastic feels stronger and higher quality, the sleeve itself is better, and the sleeve connection is noticeably sturdier. Overall, the build quality feels like a genuine step forward rather than just a minor revision.
A word of advice: Always use water-based lubricant, and use plenty of it. Proper lubrication is essential for comfort and performance. Without enough lubricant, you may experience an uncomfortable burning sensation, so don't skimp on it.
The Cons
1. The circular protective sleeve comes off too easily.
The circular protective sleeve at the initial insertion point can detach with very little effort. You need to be careful when handling it, because if it comes off unexpectedly during use, it can cause an unpleasant experience. This is the biggest design flaw I've noticed.
2. Lubricant can leak into the lower mechanism.
Another issue is that lubricant can slip out of the sleeve and collect in the bottom compartment where the motor, extender, and other mechanical components are located. This is concerning because it could create a maintenance issue over time. I'd like to see a better seal or improved design to prevent lubricant from entering that area.
Final Verdict
The Gatling 1.5 is a substantial upgrade over the original. It's more powerful, the suction is stronger, the calibration works well, and the materials and sleeve connection feel significantly more durable.
The two main drawbacks are the easily detached circular protective sleeve and the potential for lubricant to leak into the lower mechanical compartment. Those issues aside, the improvements in power and build quality make the Gatling 1.5 a much better version in my experience.
